On Tuesday evening, 1 December 2020, at an event held at NZMA House in Wellington, Dr Michael Chen-Xu was awarded a New Zealand Medical Association Fellowship, by NZMA President Dr Andy Tie.
Michael is currently a specialty Registrar in Rheumatology/General Medicine in the NHS in Bury St Edmunds, in East Anglia UK.
Michael’s association with the NZMA began in 2009 when, as a fourth year student, he was elected to the New Zealand Medical Students’ Association and helped to transition the paper publication Emesis into an online form, and established a presence on social media.
In 2011, he became President of the NZMSA and worked closely with the NZMA becoming a member of the Board in 2015.
Michael has a Master’s in Public Health from Harvard and this is what his colleagues say: “Michael is passionate and driven not just for the profession but for the health of patients. He is always striving to be better at what he does so that his focus the patient benefits.”
