Earlier in the year, the New Zealand Medical Association (NZMA) and the New Zealand Medical Students Association (NZMSA) launched the New Zealand Medical Teaching Award.
The award is divided into two categories; one for SMOs and one for RMOs.
It was excellent to see such a large number of medical practitioners nominated across both categories for the award, and it was a difficult job for the first-round judging panel to narrow it down. However, they managed to shortlist the top four candidates from each category:
- Keith Lee—Dunedin (Registrar)
- Jia Yi (Jamie) Leong—Dunedin (House Officer)
- Aaron Ooi—Waikato (Registrar)
- Rhona Strachan—Wairarapa (House Officer)
- Kyle Eggleton—Northland (GP)
- Richard North—Bay of Plenty (Oncology)
- Helen Pike—Blenheim (GP)
- Habibur Rahman—Middlemore Hospital (Surgeon)
