Material in the NZMJ is available only to subscribers/NZMA members for 6 months after publication. Articles may, however, be made open access upon payment of $1000, once an article has been accepted for publication.
This means the article will immediately be available to all readers online and in the pdf of the Journal. NB: All articles must first go through the review process and be accepted for publication before becoming eligible for open access.
Viewpoint articles may be submitted at any time or solicited by the Editorial Board. Manuscripts should be no longer than 3,000 words with up to 30 references in Vancouver style.
If headings are used they should be small in number and without sub-headings.
Remember you have a general audience especially if your topic is specialised. Make clear the strength of evidence for key statements, eg,
- based on well-designed randomised controlled trials, meta-analysis or systematic reviews
- based on well-designed cohort or case-control studies
- based on uncontrolled studies or consensus
The basic style is that for all articles in the Journal. Please submit your viewpoint article online to www.manuscriptmanager.com/nzmj.
