Applications are invited for a permanent Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery, with special interest in Spinal Surgery.

This is a permanent post to join a busy Trauma & Orthopaedic department in an excellent provincial public hospital providing Orthopaedic services to a catchment area of approximately 165,000.

The successful candidate will join an existing team of 7 part-time Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons, and will be encouraged to continue to develop their sub-specialty interest, contribute to the trauma rota and also to the general work of the department including a strong teaching commitment, clinical management and effective team working. Consultants are supported by 7 Registrars and 3-4 House Officers.

Hawke's Bay Hospital offers a comprehensive list of excellent subspecialty support in keeping with a provincial hospital in New Zealand. This includes ICU, Vascular, General and Urological surgery.

Applicants must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a Specialist Otolaryngologist and a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, or equivalent.
