WDHB serves a population of 500,000 covering North and West Auckland through two hospital sites, North Shore and Waitakere. North Shore Hospital is the major hospital providing acute and elective services to the district. Auckland’s North Shore offers excellent lifestyle opportunities.

The ICU (six beds) and HDU (eight beds) form a Level 2 closed unit equipped to ICU standards. Patient admissions are approximately 650 per annum. There is a 1 in 7 specialist roster with 3 Specialist Intensivists and 3 part-time Specialists (with other sessions in non ICU specialities). Part-time work in other specialities could be negotiable.

Applicants ideally should have the FJFICM/FFICANZCA, FRACP-IC or have completed formal training in Intensive Care Medicine and be eligible to register in New Zealand. Candidates who are completing the FJFICM Part 2 qualification will also be considered. A track record of excellence in team working and a commitment to quality improvement, continuing education, research and teaching is essential.
