Specialist Geriatricians
Waitemata District Health Board
Auckland, New Zealand

Waitemata District Health Board (WDHB) Home and Older Adults Service (HOAS) provides care to the population of North and West Auckland - the largest growing community of older adults in New Zealand.

Our team of nine Geriatricians along with our Registrars and House Surgeons provide in-patient and community care for the older age population and manage the following services:
Memory Service
Stroke Service
Ortho-Geriatrics
Stroke rehabilitation
Hospital at home and case management services for COPD

We are proud to host New Zealand's most rapidly developing academic gerontology unit offering excellent research opportunities. The Specialist Geriatrician role also offers the option to work in a joint appointment with General Medicine for suitable Specialists.
Waitemata Health is the seat of the Freemasons' Chair in Geriatric Medicine, and both the District Health Board and the University of Auckland are eager to continue the expansion of the academic unit. We also have a close association with the old age psychiatry service and are the site of the first Memory Clinic to be established in New Zealand.
Along with RMO supervision and medical student teaching you will develop your own professional development plan and contribute to service goals and strategies by delivering consistent, high quality care. You will hold FRACP and be registered or eligible for Specialist registration with the NZ Medical Council.

Should you be from outside Auckland, we have a dedicated Candidate Care team that can assist with immigration, medical registration and relocation. With these exciting career opportunities, variety of leisure activities and sub-tropical climate this could be the move for you!
