Cardiologist or General Physician with Special Interest in Cardiology Cardiologist OR General Physician with Special Interest in Cardiology Permanent or Locum Position Part Time, 28 hours per week (0.7 FTE) Cardiology, Ref: 2682 We are seeking a Cardiologist, or a General Physician with a special interest in cardiology, to complement our team of three Cardiologists and participate in a 1 in 4 acute call roster. The Hutt Hospital Cardiology Department provides both inpatient and outpatient services, with a 12 bed Coronary Care Unit and in addition further cardiology inpatients are cared for on the general medical ward. The Cardiology Department provides a range of non-invasive diagnostic investigations with a particular emphasis on cardiac imaging. There are opportunities for research and clinical trial activities. Specialist Nursing activities in the department are a particular strength with separate nurse led clinics for cardiac rehabilitation, heart failure and a trial fibrillation. The department has close links with the adjacent tertiary Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery Services located at Wellington Hospital. A number of clinical activities are integrated across the two sites including clinical meetings and junior staff appointments. . We aim to provide high quality clinical care to inpatient, outpatient and community settings including support and education to general practitioners, facilitating community initiatives and specialist nurse roles, to act as a role models and educators for junior medical staff and actively support clinical audit, research and quality improvement. Hutt Hospital, located in Lower Hutt City and part of Hutt Valley District Health Board, is a busy 285 bed General District Hospital with a full range of secondary services, serving a population of 140,000. The hospital also provides tertiary and regional services in Plastic Surgery, Burns and Rheumatology. Lower Hutt is situated only 20 minutes drive from central Wellington, where there is an extensive range of creative and cultural activities. The Kapiti Coast and Wairarapa Regions are nearby and provide opportunities for many outdoor recreational pursuits.
