Full or Part-time - Locums or Long Term, Mental Health Services Group

Waitemata District Health Board (WDHB) Mental Health Services Group is the largest provider of Mental Health Services in the Auckland region. The catchment area includes North Shore City, West Auckland and a large rural/lifestyle population in Rodney.

Mental Health Services Group comprises an integrated range of Adult Community and Inpatient Services, Older Adult Community and Inpatient Services and a comprehensive Child, Adolescent Youth and Family Community Service. In addition there are a range of specialist services such as Early Psychosis Intervention, Psychiatric Liaison and Maternal Mental Health. We also have dedicated Maori and Pacific Island Community Mental Health Services. WDHB is also responsible for the Regional Forensic Psychiatry Services and the Regional Community Alcohol and Drugs Service.

We are seeking General Practitioners who are interested in working as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing medical assessment and treatment to our Mental Health consumers.

Experience in general practice is an advantage as much of the work involves brief physical assessments of new and follow up consumers in our Inpatient Units and advice to the clinical teams on management of general medical aspects of care. We will also be seeking an expert contribution to the development of a health and wellness orientation to treatment planning and to assist in the liaison with patients own General Practitioners.
